Pink & Whites !

So the semester is over and it's finally summer vacation! While I was looking back through pictures from this year my amazing sparkly pink and white's were spotted. I love painting my nails and always trying out new colors or designs, but oh how I'm just OBSSESSED! with these pink and white's from "Perfect Nails" (shout out to Tony & his wife!) in Maywood, NJ. My friends and I have been getting our nails done there since we were in 8th grade. Considering that was almost eight years ago, I'd say we're also pretty much OBSESSED! with this nail salon located right uptown on West Pleasant Ave. (I legit went home with my roomate one weekend back in September just to get them filled in.) Unfortunately there are NO nail salons in Rhode Island I trust like the ones back home in Jersey so I eventually had to take them off, it was tragic. Hmm might contemplate getting a new set just for MDW next weekend.

The pictures weren't originally taken to show off our nails so it might be a little bit hard to see just how truly sparkly theese pink and whites actually are. The gel they use at "Perfect Nails" comes in two colors, light pink and dark pink (I prefer the dark pink). For those who can't decide you can also ask them to mix the two powders together for a 'medium' pink. The gel is straight FULL of glitter and once the top clear coat dries the glitter really stands out. The first picture is just of my nails, the second is Jess and I when she came up to visit for "OCEANFEST" in Providence, and the last is one of my friends back home who also had them on recently for her birthday. My nails in the bottom picture were painted pretty sparkly too. I painted them with a sparkly black polish followed by a coat of silver glitter and another coat of gold glitter. They came out pretty sick for our night out in NYC at Crimson to celebrate the birthday girl's 21st.. We just LOVE the sparkly pink and whites though!

Almost Summer Sparkles

OPI (left to right) in "Pink Me I'm Good" & "Heart Throb", MAC "Dazzleglass" in "Baby Sparks" (top) & "Plushglass" in "Fashion Fanatic" (bottom gloss; from the 2011 "Quite Cute" collection).

First I put on a few coats of "Heart Throb" (left) for a light pale spring pink look. However, even though its not officially summer yet it is officially summer vacation so I decided to make things a little more interesting. "Heart Throb" looked nice alone but I wanted something a little more exciting to celebrate the start of vacation (and the fact my birthday & MDW is in less than 20 days! OMG!). So after I let the first color dry I got out "Pink Me I'm Good" to apply as an extra sparkly top coat.

OBSESSED! The darker pink coloring in "Pink Me I'm Good" combined with "Heart Throb" created the perfect 'summer-is-almost-here' color. The gold reflects in the glitter also add a nice touch, it reminds me of MAC's "Pinkarat" lustreglass and how badly I need to get a new tube!

This combination of pink colors OPI already has released is getting me even more excited for their summer collection "Nice Stems!" (below) which I'm also alread OBSESSED! with. The line includes these four colors in the picture below; (left to right) "Play the Peonies", "Come to Poppy", "I Lily Love You" & "Be a Dahlia Won't You?". I literally was stalking the beauty store where I buy my OPI polishes back home, to find out when they would be getting the line.

Even though I don't have that "Pinkarat" gloss right now, another two colors came to mind. Just like layering the two nail polish colors, I did the same with these two MAC glosses. First I applied a few coats of "Fashion Fanatic" from the "Quite Cute" line (on the right) for a light pink tinted lip. To add a little extra sparkle I put a light top coat of the "Dazzleglass" in "Baby Sparks" (left).

I just got "Fashion Fanatic" last weekend when Jess and I went on a mini-adventure to Short Hills Mall and am so happy I decided to buy it.

I really loved the "Quite Cute" collection and am pretty bummed out it sold out almost everywhere so fast that I didn't have a chance to buy the products I was hoping to add to my collection.

A Work in Progress ...

So it's FINALLY summer & the semester is over! Now that finals are done we've had some free time on our hands to get this started! Hang tight as we are working to perfect our page so we provide you with only the best quality. To get things started while we continue to improve our look along with other details, here is what's HOT with us right now. Fuchsia has been on our radar so far as spring has sprung and inspired one of our favorite go-to-looks for the rest of the spring/summer season. Stay tuned & check back, we hope to be fully up and running smoothly SOON <3 L&J.

Flirty In Fuchsia SPRING/SUMMER 2011

MAC's blush in "Dolly Mix", lipstick in "Girl About Town", masacara "Haute & Naughty Lash" in black and OPI's "Do You Think I'm Texy?" from the "TEXAS" line.

Jess had this lipstick and I really liked the color so I obviously had to get it too, along with the "Haute & Nauty" mascara I tried out when she came to visit me once during the semester. I saw the shade and immediately thought of MAC's "Dolly Mix" blush I already had and knew the two would be a great pair to create a fun spring & summer look. One weekend while I was out shopping I stopped at ULTA to browse their selection of OPI and wound up purchasing "Do You Think I'm Texy?". This color really caught my eye since it fit in to the color scheme I recently designated as one go-to-look for the season.

"Do You Think I'm Texy?"

We're really obsessed with nail polish especially all the fun, creative new trends that have become more and more popular recently. Didn't have a lot of time to get too fancy with the "Do You think I'm Texy"(on the right), but I LOVE the way it came out. I even gave myself a pedicure to match in the same color.

Jess however had the chance to do this cute black cheetah design (above) over her light purple polish. (Haha yes spotted: the best friend at URI and the black & white polka dot table cloth in our kitchen!)

Products from left to rightOPI's "TEXAS" collection in "Do You Think I'm Texy?",MAC lipstick in "Girl About Town" "Mille" (from the Spring 2011 "Fashion Flower" line)

Since I really liked the way "Girl About Town" (right lipstick)looked when I saw Jess wearing it, I was somewhat dissappointed when I first tried it on again. I re-applied it a second time a bit lighter yet still wasn't 100% satisfied. The color was what really grabbed my attention in this lipstick but the shade was just a little bit too vibrant for my face.

I also had recently purchased "Mille" (color on the left, from MAC's "Fashion Flower" collection) and tried the two out together. First I applied "Mille", and lightly dabbed "Girl About Town" over it. The pale shade applied first really toned down the color of the second, creating a light, yet still bright, lip tone.

If you're looking to achieve an even glossier lip; try applying a coat of something clear or slightly tinted, like MAC's plushglass in "Cushy White". Or, if "Girl About Town" applied solo works for you and your look, apply a few heavier coats to get the most out of the color.
